FLEXIBLE HANDRAIL CONCEPT
Some of our best selling handrail configurations: The renewed h/p/cosmos handrail concept allows quick and
flexible adaptions of the treadmill to various demands.
Standard and long handrail
The ingeniously simple plug-in concept makes it a child's play to change the handrails and adapt them to the required application. As standard we deliver all treadmills of the mercury® series with handrails, which cover about half of the running surface length. By quickly loosening two hex head screws, the short
mercury® med handrail can be easily removed and replaced by the therapist or trainer with a
with optional long handrails[cos 10 291-80 1] long handrail (reaching to the end of the running surface), either on one side
or on both sides (for extended safety when stepping onto the running deck).

Adjustable handrail
h/p/cosmos treadmills can also be supplied with height and width adjustable handrails. This variant is ideal if you serve a heterogeneous clientele. They offer the different patient types (from children, to small and lall persons as weil as for obese patients) optimal conditions for therapy and/or training. In combination with the optional arm support, you also enable patients to train more safely and without fear. As an additional feature, the optional arm support offers the possibility of a manual unweighting by the patient relieving partial body weight on these stable pads. Additionally the adjustable handrail "comfort" is now available with its pneumatic spring support for even easier handling.
Paediatric handrail
For all the small patients it is necessary to equip the treadmill with a paediatric handrail system. This is no problem, since it can easily placed in every treadmill instead of a standard handrail. This special addition for children is adjustable in just a few steps for max. flexibility. The handles on the sides can be adjusted with an allen key, the cross bar is adjustable tool free with a turning handle. The minimum height starts at 41cm and ends in 82cm above tread. The extra cross tube in front is also flexible in height and is continuously adjustable. This extra cross tube is an important safety feature for special excercises like sidesteps.

The right solutions for applications in training, testing, research and rehabilitation
h/p/cosmos has the worldwide biggest portfolio by far of standard treadmill and ergometer systems with options, supplies and also custom-made solutions for fitness, sports, athletics, biomechanics, medicine, therapy and science. Full scale of various treadmill running deck sizes from standard 150/50 cm up to oversize 450/300 cm. Speed from standard O . .. 22 km/h up to high speed 80 km/h for cycling on treadmills. Elevation from O ... 25% up to -35 ... +35% for special applications. From normal running deck to instrumented versions with 3 component force (Fz,Fx,Fy), torque (Mz,Mx,My) & pressure distribution for biomechanics applications.
Highest performance for excellent accuracy and dynamics in acceleration and deceleration Depending on the size h/p/cosmos has extremely powerful, maintenance free and high-capacity drive motors of 2.2, 3.7, 11.0 or even 30.0 kW. This is necessary for propelling athletes in sprint applications or performance diagnostics, for speeding up very thick, heavy and extremely durable running belts and also for perturbation applications with programmable extreme accelerations. The drive motor of the saturn® model with 11 kW for example and the heavy rollers provide exceptional dynamics, precision and smoothness. The deviation of the speed is on average 0.148 % (average deviation of0 .044km/h, measured both with no load and under load with runners of 78 and 94 kg).
How much is 1%? How important is 1%? How important is data validity?
Often fractions of seconds decide between winning and losing. The scores of the Olympic Games and other competitions show this fact clearly. Accurate time measuremen,t strong drive systems and high accuracies for treadmills and other measuring instruments are prerequisites and an integral part of a successful training control - no matter if you are a competitive or a recreational athlete. For sport-specific training methods and athletic preparation tests (e.g. shuttle run, T-test, sprints, performance diagnostics, etc.) measurements are very important also to see the impact of changing training plans, fitness and performance levels as weil as change in motion and running styles. Comparing with other equipment: Same size and speed does not mean same performance! Only precise and valid data are worth it to integrale into the training routine and training planning.
Flexible handrail and design concept with options, accessories and upgrade options
Different applications require different designs and safety options. A safety arch with harness and ehest bell system including quick stop and fall prevention system gives necessary confidence to athletes, trainers, exercise physiologists and also to patients, therapists and doctors to improve performance during exercise and tests.
With most h/p/cosmos treadmill models the operator is able to change handrail designs depending on applications or upgrade to different versions and features. Also adjustable handrails (width and height} or arm support for gait training are available. The patented robowalk® expander, which can be even retrofitted
/ upgraded at a later stage, provides necessary concentric, eccentric and lateral forces for stimulation, perturbation, support or walking and running style correction. Extra wide footboards and specially designed shortsprint handrails allow ergonomic and safe operation duringjump-on and jump off in sprintand hyper-speed trainings and tests. For 3D motion capture systems and video analysis detachable handrails are important.

The airwalk® ap unweighting system
The airwalk® ap unweighting system developed and manufactured by h/p/cosmos is not only for rehabilitation at low speed with 360° rotations but also for balance, perturbation and overspeed or co-ordination training. Wheelchair ramps or wheelchair stabilizers allow safe and ergonomic mounting, dismounting or even operation with sports wheelchairs on oversize treadmills for training and/or performance diagnostics. Various unweighting vests, harnesses, shorts or ehest belts in different sizes and for different applications are available.
Different running belts for different applications

Running belts for running may have a structured surface while running belts for cycling must have low rolling resistance. For use with ski-poles again different running belts with very thick structure of up to 10 mm are recommended to have non-slip characteristics even when they are getting wet and even during uphill skating/climbing and double-pole push tests to utilize maximum performance also with arms and upper body. lt is all about grip! h/p/cosmos has the suitable bell for your specific application.

h/p/cosmos treadmill with safety arch [cos10079-01 va02] and ehest bell [cos14903-04-M]

powerful, reliable and accurate drive systems enable precise measurements as weil as high performance applications

pushing athletes to and beyond their limits is only possible as long as they feel safe and rely on the safety systems and material
Additional options for your individual treadmill solution
The numerous additional options allow you to adapt h/p/cosmos treadmills exactly to your needs and your field of application. Same of our most successful options:
Safety arch fall prevention
In the event of a fall, the patient or athlete is caught with a safety harness and the treadmill is automatically stopped. The h/p/cosmos safety arch with ehest belt prevents falling in case of tripping and by lass of coordination in the exhaustion phase. The fall stop stops the treadmill immediately and automatically by use of a quick-stop system. With this feeling of safety it is possible to train right up to the limit which is important for precise diagnostics.
Performance, high-speeds & -acceleration with 3-phase power supply systems Although performance diagnostics ofmarathon runners ortriathletes only place moderate demands on a treadmill system due to the very economical running style, the diagnosis of athletes from many other sports requires clearly increased performance. Also when sprint and speed tests are conducted with large and heavy athletes, the treadmill system must provide, in these short-term peak loads, accurate repeatable results. Single phase power supplies with only 230 volts are often overwhelmed. To deal with these requirements, we offer 3 phase power supplies for many of our treadmills.
The h/p/cosmos pulsar® 3p features above all a 3-phase power supply with 3 x 400 volts AC in addition to the larger running surface of 190 x 65 cm and the built-in reverse belt rotation for downhill training. Diagnostics for heavier athletes and many special applications are therefore possible up to 40 km/h (standard, optional 45 km/h). The high power capacities of 3-phase power drive systems allow extreme accelerations and to reach the maximum speed of 40 (or optional 45) km/h within 3 seconds when connected to 3 phase power supply! Sufficient power for sprint and acceleration trainings!
Built-in reverse belt rotation
As a standard on the pulsar series, the running direction of the belt can be reverted. With the incline set at the same time, downhill running can be simulated. The option is available for all h/p/cosmos treadmills with incline option.
Additional keyboard
The additional keyboard allows trainers or therapists to perfectly control the treadmill from the ideal external spot around the treadmill.

With optimal movement to success
A treadmill is particularly suitable for bio-mechanical analysis. Which wheelchair drive ring gives the best acceleration? At what cadence does the athlete have the lowest energy consumption? How can the movements be optimised? The design of the h/p/cosmossaturn® allows good visual access from all 4 sides. You can temporarily remove the handrail tube and handrail crossbar at the front for a completely unrestricted view during movement analysis.
The future acknowledged - possibilities for future retrofitting
h/p/cosmos treadmill systems are often in use for many years - for a large number of customers that's already over 20 years. Desires, needs and goals may change and develop over time. The h/p/cosmossaturn® offers you a wide variety of options and expansion possibilities. For example many systems are multi-use for movement analysis or coordination and technique training with unweighting which of course can also be retrofitted. Also for rehabilitation, functional training or speed training h/p/cosmosoffers you the ideal solution. Thanks to the integrated PC interfaces and the open coscom® protocol standard there is a tremendous range of compatible software solutions available.

zebris® pressure distribution
The pluto®, mercury®, quasar® and pulsar® series treadmills can be equipped or retrofitted with an integrated pressure distribution platform from the German manufacturer zebris®.
This upgrade allows versatile applications for rehabilitation, training and analysis! Underneath the bell, a pressure sensor matrix is installed !hat contains several thousand calibrated, capacitive pressure sensors.
The bell movement is compensated, so stable gait and roll-off parameters can be analysed and displayed in a comprehensive software interface as weil as in reports - a weil proven and established tool amongst therapists.
Gait training and adaptive visual cueing
The initial gait analysis is carried out without any measuring preparations to be done on the patient. The measuring process can be observed on the screen in real-time. The report is automatically generated. In order to prepare the gait training using adaptive visual cueing, the parameters from the gait analysis (step length & width and foot rotation) are automatically transferred and can be individually adjusted according to training objectives. The values remain constant or gradually approach the target settings during the course of the training. During training the steps are projected onto the treadmill bell in the shape of the actual footprints, or alternatively as rectangles. Throughout the gait training the patient is instructed to position his or her feet as accurately as possible within the projected area. The gait training including visual stimulation/cueing is also possible when using an unweighting system and thus also allows for patients who are suffering from severe functional limitations to start therapy even at an early stage. The report documents the adherence to the target settings. On
!hat basis, the target parameters can be adjusted to the patient's individual capability. For an optimal training control, two gait analyses are compared, e.g. before and after a training period.
Gait and coordination training using virtual feedback
Physical and cognitive abilities are simultaneously demanded during dual-task-training in the virtual walking environment. The patient solves simple perceptual and memory tasks as weil as arithmetic problems while walking and observing his or her footprints. Thus, reaction time and attentiveness are improved while simultaneously supporting automated walking. The various modules allow the training to be individually adapted to each patient.

h/p/cosmos treadmills with UserTerminal TouchPro can be connected directyl to virtual reality and training applications. The optimised tablet holder (cos102488_vesa) keeps the tablet in view.

h/p/cosmos speedcontrol [cos101000_speed_control] uses an optometric system to enable automatic speed and incline adjustment depending on the position of the subject on the running bell.
Versatile connection options
To serve the variety of peripheral devices in the best possible and secure way, h/p/cosmos devices communicate via the coscom® v4 interface protocol The latest UserTerminal Touch(Pro) additionally allows the connection of heart rate sensors and smart devices via Bluetooth. Various protocols (e.g. FTMS) facilitate the connection to virtual reality and training applications, motivating athletes and patients.
Speedcontrol
The speed of the running belt while running at higher speeds can be tiring and even distracting. The h/p/cosmos speed control system has been developed to automatically adjust the speed and incline according to the user's preferences. A optometric system tracks the exact position of the athlete on the treadmill and adjusts speed and/or inclination according to (customizable) presets.
Safety harness fall stop protection
In the event of a fall, the patient is safely caught in a ehest harness and the treadmill is automatically stopped thanks to the „quick-stop"system. This feature ensures the safety of athletes and staff alike.
The h/p/cosmos safety arch with ehest harness prevents a fall caused by tripping if coordination deteriorates during the exhaustion phase. This feature is essential for precise diagnositcs.
Training and analysis software para control
The para control software allows the full control of the treadmill from a connected computer with a convenient interface. The software also enables users to pre programme or edit tests and protocols on a computer prior to the training sessions. Profiles and tests can easily be set or modified even without the physical presence of a treadmill and transferred via USB stick.

Sabine & Hans Lamprecht I HSH Lamprecht GbR, 73230 Kirchheim/Teck, Germany
Back in 1987, Sabine and Hans Lamprecht opened their first physiotherapy in Kirchheim/Teck close to Stuttgart. With more than 30 years of experience, they made their name in the German speaking territories and beyond for their evidence driven and practically oriented therapy approaches. Their science based but practical approach is the foundation for their daily work as therapists as weil as their activities as authors of various reference books and as lecturer at European universities.
Already in the second generation, 2019 marked a milestone with the opening of the new and extended therapy facility with additional floor space and updated equipment. The team of over 40 passionate specialists supports patients in the fields of physiotherap, yoccupational and speech therapy.

A free webinar series with Sabine Lamprecht has been recorded in her therapy facility on gait training and therapy and is available here:
When working with neurologic and orthopaedic patients, reliable and safe technology is key - both for the patient and the therapist. For many years, our team relies on h/p/cosmos when it comes to treadmills and ergometers.
Within the past 5 years, we were able to update, retrofit and extend our equipment. We are now able to adapt our equipment to the very individual needs of our customers - no matter if lall or small which is decisive for therapy success! One highlight and eye-catcher in our therapy is the unweighting system airwalk® ap with the locomotion® treadmill as weil as robowalk® expanders for active gait correction and training. The treadmill is an invaluable tool for neurologic therapy and enables us to provide early and safe return to therapy. In 2020, we were able to retrofit the existing system with a zebris pressure distribution platform and the visual cueing system, further extending the possibilities (e.g. for Parkinson's disease) and applications.
The h/p/cosmos pluto® med is daily used for gait training and therapy in our facility and the perfect companion to the locomotion®. lts smooth start and movement at very low speed - even with overweight patients - makes patients feel secure! Long handrails in combination with the adjustable arm supports allow a safe access onto the treadmill and a stabilisation and even light manual unweighting of the patient during the training.

Of course, we want to combine our expertise with the best technical possibilities. This is the reason why we have been relying on h/p/cosmos products for many years. For diagnostics in our movement laboratory we have chosen the h/p/cosmos treadmill with integrated zebris pressure distribution. The treadmill is a very valuable component of our testing for automated multi parametric gait analyses and optimises our therapy results in the long term through the insights it provides.

In our physiotherapy area, we offer active and passive therapy measures. Our therapists always do their best to achieve a treatment that is optimally tailored to the patient.
With our pluto® and mercury® medical treadmills in combination with zebris and the Witty SEM system by Microgate, we enable patients in gait and physiotherapy to train and improve their reactivity, agility and motor-cognitive skills.
We can start at a very slow treadmill speed and therefore have the time to analyse gait patterns and are able to even show the patients own walking pattern and therefore can adjust it in small steps.
Under laboratory conditions in our Corox Athletics Center with running track, jump and speed measurements, mobility tests and maximum strength measurements, we get to the bottom of your movements.
In the field of sports, we try to compensate for disturbed physical functions, regenerate, prevent secondary damage and promote health-oriented behaviour by means of various movement therapy measures.

Zentrikum Traunstein, 83278 Traunstein, Germany
At Zentrikum, people take centre stage. As an interdisciplinary neurological practice, we combine physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy in one location in order to offer patients holistic and individually tailored treatment.

Our goal is to improve the quality of life of our patients and to promote their independence in everyday life. In both locations of the centre (Traunstein and Altötting), 18 experienced therapists from various disciplines work closely together to ensure comprehensive care.

Thanks to interdisciplinary cooperation, we are able to treat complex neurological diseases from different perspectives and develop holistic treatment concepts.
The number of neurological diseases is increasing as the population ages, leading to a greater demand for neurological therapy. However, there is often a lack of specialized outpatient care for neurological patients. To address this gap, the "Zentrikum" offers a comprehensive range of interdisciplinary therapies based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). The programme is focused on physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, with close collaboration between these areas to create optimal treatment plans.
The goal is to support patients in their daily activities, maintain or improve autonomy, and prevent secondary damage. The centre also offers innovative therapy and analysis technology, such as gait analysis and therapy-supported brain wave measurement. The use of standardized language in documentation and therapy reports improves patient compliance and justifies the economic necessity of
prescriptions. Overall, the "Zentrikum" aims to provide specialized and effective neurological care at one location. Gernot Pichler

Ultra runner Florian Neuschwander • Run with the Flow, Germany

1 have been using the h/p/cosmos quasar for over 3 years now. 1 also ran the 50km treadmill world record on a quasar in 2020 at the start of the COVID pandemic. A year later, after my 50km world record had been broken three times, 1 set a new 100km world record on a h/p/cosmos quasar! And about six months later I had this treadmill in my basement and have been training very hard on it ever since.
lt's a great tool forme, especially in the winter with ice and snow or when the weather outside is bad. l'm very happy with it! 1 use it mainly for intervals and fast training sessions, but also
for easy endurance runs. 1 can also compare my performance on the treadmill 1:1 with running outdoors, i.e. everything I train on the treadmill can be directly transferred to good conditions outdoors - and vice versa. lt's a great training tool forme to improve and measure my performance.
1 also use the treadmill for a lot of my training and race preparation, especially for high speed intervals. The quasar is my number one training tool. In addition to the treadmill, 1 also use an h/p/cosmos altitude generator to further improve my performance. The system is positioned between my treadmill and my bike, so I can use it flexibly, depending on what l'm doing.

OptoGait® developed by the ltalian company Microgate is a pioneering system for movement analysis and functional assessment of a patient under normal or pathological conditions. The system is equipped with optical sensors that operate at a frequency of 1,000 Hz as weil as a resolution of approx. 1 cm and records spatiotemporal parameters during walking, running and other types of movement. With the magnetic optofix® holder system (developed by h/p/cosmos) the OptoGait® bars are magnetically attached to the side of the treadmill frame and placed at an optimal height above the running belt. While the athlete is moving on the treadmill, his steps, with the corresponding parameters, are measured precisely to the thousandth of a second. Relying on the proven and widely available coscom interface, the h/p/cosmos treadmill communicates with the OptoGait® software. lf the speed of the treadmill gets adjusted during the test or training, the determined parameters are automatically calculated and displayed correctly. For additional safety, the optional safety arch is available, which prevents a fall and stops the treadmill in such an event.

The OptoGait® system is used in conjunction with a treadmill, with a matching number of bars, based on the size of the treadmill. The software features a biofeedback tool that provides real-time visualization of gait parameters, such as symmetry or asymmetry, stride lengths , and ground contact times. Videosignals can also be fed and synchronised in the software. These visualizations are valuable for athletes and patients undergoing therap.yThe software also offers a trigger output, which provides a TTL trigger signal with every first ground contact,
!hat can be utilized in external systems, such as EMG or EEG analysis.
Speedcontrol [cos101000_speed_control], an h/p/cosmos solution for automated speed and inclination control, is also based on the OptoGait® system which can be additionally used for jump and gait analyses directly on the floor, in addition to its use on a treadmill.

ZEBRIS FDM-T

comprehensive pressure plot visualisation

adaptive visual cueing [cos101291-01] with projected steps on the treadmill bell

gait and coordination training on a treadmill using virtual feedback [cos101062] and dual-tasking
Most h/p/cosmos treadmill series can be equipped or retrofitted with an integrated pressure distribution platform from the German manufacturer zebris®. This upgrade allows versatile applications for rehabilitation, training and analysis. Underneath the belt, a pressure sensor matrix is installed that contains several thousand calibrated, capacitive pressure sensors. The belt movement is compensated, so stable gait and roll-off parameters can be analysed and displayed in a comprehensive software interface as weil as in reports - a weil proven and established tool amongst therapists.

Gait training and adaptive visual & acoustic cueing
The initial gait analysis is carried out without any measuring preparations to be done on the patient. The measuring process can be observed on the screen in real-time and a report is automatically generated. In order to prepare the gait training using adaptive visual cueing, the parameters from the gait analysis (step length & width and foot rotation) are automatically transferred and can be individually adjusted according to training objectives. The values remain constant or gradually approach the target settings during the course of the training. During training the steps are projected onto the treadmill bell in the shape of the actual footprints, or alternatively as rectangle.sThroughout the gait training the patient is instructed to position his or her feet as accurately as possible within the projected area. The gait training including visual stimulation/cueing is also possible when using an unweighting system and thus also allows for patients who are suffering from severe functional limitations to start therapy even at an early stage. The report documents the adherence to the target settings. On !hat basis, the target parameters can be adjusted to the patient's individual capability.
The various modules allow the training tobe individually adapted to each patient.

Standardised and detailed reports visualise the results and create comparability
In gait training with adaptive visual stimulation, the parameters step length, step width and foot angle, which are automatically gathered from the conducted gait analysis, are individually adapted to the targets. The values can remain constant during the entire training or gradually approach the targets during the course of the training. With the intuitively operated software, the course of treatment can be automatically and easily documented by well-founded reports. Optional lighting and camera units are available to record kinematic parameters and for video documentation.
Dual-task training in the virtual reality / environment simultaneously challenges motor and cognitive skills. While walking, the test person solves tasks of varying difficulty that stress perception, memory and calculation. This trains attention skills and deepens the degree of automation of walking. The training can be individually tailored to each patient by choosing from the different modules available.

GAITWAY®3D
h/p/cosmos gaitway® 3d

\
The gaitway® 3d has been developed in close cooperation between h/p/cosmos and Arsalis. lt measures ground reaction forces in three axes as weil as the centre of pressure (COP). The gaitway® 3d is currently available in three deck sizes: 150 x 50 cm, 170 x 65 cm or 190 x 65 cm. Each size is optimized for a range of speeds. A scientifically evaluated algorithm subdivides ground reaction forces during the gait of left and right ground contacts, which means that for the first time no split bell is needed for this application! Split bell systems separate left and right track and significantly change the natural gait pattern!
Based on its extremely rigid construction, the gaitway® 3d is able to record biomechanical signals ofmaximum quality. To further minimise the vibration characteristics, various components (such as the detachable handrails and the optional safety arch} have been decoupled from the treadmill and the measuring platform. The gaitway® 3d is bolted to the floor with its sub-frame and the optional inclination module. Optionally, the gaitway® 3d can also be seamlessly connected with other biomechanical systems such as zebris FDM-T and via a digital interface to video/ MoCap systems (e.g. Qualisys & Vicon). Furtherfunctions include a patient / athlete scale, the precise acquisition and recording of ground reaction forces at rates of up to 10 kHz, a left and right force measurement for vertical and horizontal force during walking and running and an extensive list of biomechanical parameters for normal and pathological gait patterns.
In addition, the system also allows the display of biofeedback for gait rehabilitation and performance training. Digital start / stop input triggers as weil as synchronisation outputs and analogue signal outputs enable the integration of the instrumented gaitway® 3d treadmill into e.g. EMG and motion analysis systems. Automatie software updates allow easy expansion of functionalities and a high level of customer support.
The combination of 3D force measurement and pressure distribution in a single system makes the gaitway® 3d one of the world's most advanced treadmills for biomechanics.
Optional pressure distribution measurement
The optional, additional installation of a zebris pressure distribution platform under the running bell can further enhance the field of possible gaitway® 3d applications. The evaluation of the pressure distribution provides valuable information such as the COP under each foot during the single and double contact phase, the foot rotation angles and the rolling characteristics.

Virtual split belt
The new optional „Virtual Split Belt", function of the gaitway® 3d biomechanics treadmill offers excellent value in rehabilitation and research. lt has been first time presented at ISBS Salzburg 2024.
The speeds for left leg and right leg can be adjusted in different ranges during contact gait phases. Fast acceleration of the sophisticated h/p/cosmos treadmill drive systems, which is also used for the optional perturbation mode allow the speedchanges to virtually simulate 2 different belt speeds but with the great benefit of having a single belt treadmill deck. On single belt treadmills runners and patients can move on the deck freely without focusing on any gap between left and right treadmill belt. There is no gap on the single belt h/p/cosmos gaitway® treadmill and therefore also the step width of the subjecUpatient remains normal. Even overcrossing is no problem on the single belt gaitway.

The active gait trainer robowalk®
ROBOWALK®EXPANDER
The gait trainer robowalk® is suitable for providing patients with different degrees of impairment with appropriate support or resistance during gait training. lt can support the patient in taking a step while walking or can also be used to strengthen the leg muscles. The full system gait trainer robowalk® consists of eight elastic expander cables. Two pairs of expanders are attached to the front and back ends of the treadmill via longitudinal bars. The expander cables are attached to one or both legs with cuffs, depending on the indication. The colour coding indicates the size of the cuff. lnstead of the cuffs, straps can be used which are held with the hands and thus include the arms in the training. The application technique determines the effect the expander has on the gait.
Essentially, two application techniques can be differentiated: ,,Support mode", in which the expander cables support the direction of movement of the legs, and „Challenge mode", in which they provide resistance against the direction of movement. Therapeutic staff are greatly relieved when training the walking ability with impaired patients, as the necessary manual support when walking on normal surfaces is no longer required. Various optional features, such as the body weight support system and adjustable handrails, can further support the therapy. The robowalk® expander can additionally replace the manual guidance of the legs by one or two therapists for severely affected patients.
Benefits of the robowalk® system

What makes the airwalk® ap so unique?
The airwalk® ap training-, diagnostic- and rehab-system allows you to start your gait training and functional training very early after an injury. The goal is to bring the athlete's or patient's movements back to a normal rhythm - even if the joints are not yet fully loadable (with normal gravity).
Another important field of application is stability- and fall prevention training. Therefore the airwalk® ap in combination with the robowalk® expander will facilitate a full body workout with focus on core-stabilization, stabilization of the lower extremities and balance. The robowalk® expander allows concentric, eccentric and lateral loads even for adductor and abductor muscles workout in all directions of walk.
Early rehabilitation start through individual weight release up to 80 kg or optional even up to 120 kg.
The unweighting system can easily be adjusted from approx. 0.5 kg weight relief up to 80 kg (standard) or even 120 kg (optional). The single point suspension allows 360° rotations as weil as side steps, lunges, etc.
The optional emergency stop makes the system even more safe and stops the treadmill in case of a fall while the patient is caught in a vest. The operation of the airwalk® ap requires a compressor.
Unweighting system airwalk® ap (with optional emergency stop)
In the event of a fall, the patient is caught with the unweighting vest or a safety harness and the treadmill is stopped automatically.
360° rotation is possible
For the runner it is possible to do side steps, lunges and even backward movements, as weil as uphill and downhill running - depending on the treadmills possibilities.
Full access and free sight to the legs, pelvis and upper body of the patient.
This is very helpful, especially in any therapeutic situation or with the use of robowalk® with which you can apply gait guidance, assistance and correction.
Retrofitting for your h/p/cosmos treadmill
The airwalk® ap can be retrofitted for treadmills up to deck size 190 x 65 cm. These treadmills are the series pluto®, mercury®, locomotion®, quasar® and pulsar®.

Purpose and structure of the user manual
The user manual serves as a clinical reference book for users of h/p/cosmos treadmill systems in the field of rehabilitation. The first part introduces the treadmill with its features specific to rehabilitation. This includes for example the (dynamic) body weight support system „airwalk® ap" and the active gait trainer robowalk®. In the following part, exercises for treadmill therapy in neurological and orthopaedic related gait disorders are suggested. The exercises are sorted according to their degree of difficulty. In ad dition, different settings of the robowalk® are discussed. The third part contains some case studies, for each of which a possible treatment session is shown.

LOCOMOTION SYSTEM
The locomotion system is the spearhead of our therapy solutions. For an early and safe start of therapy, the h/p/cosmos locomotion treadmill system can be combined with the unweighting system airwalk® ap. For a safe and fearless access to the treadmill, a wheelchair ramp can be mounted. Furthermore the handrails can contain telescopic extensions which can be pulled out 55 cm (21.65") to give additional stabilisation to the patientswhen accessing the treadmill. They can assist and hold the handrails in many cases.
Not only the patients profit from this system, also do the therapists who work with the patients. Especially manual gait adjustments of the patient result in a mostly uncomfortable crouching of the therapist, which we address in our systems. Foot rests and movable and rotatable therapist seats allow a near yet safe position for the therapist close to the patients' limbs. The additional keyboard for the treadmill enables a smooth operation without the need of using the terminal while performing manual therapy.

The comfort handrail can smoothly be rotated and is also adjustable in width.
The treadmill system can be equipped with variable footrests for therapists which are included with the seats.

The treadmill system can be equipped with seats for therapists [cos104733_150]

The therapist seats are fully rotatable [cos10473_3150]

Handrail systemwith additional extension rods.
Why decide for a locomotio®ntreadmill system?
Due to an unergonomic working position and the difficulty of manually working with the patient's legs the therapists may find it difficult or even impossible to work with normal tread mills in manual locomotion therapy. Especially after several consecutive sessions, the thera pists experience fatigue and often pain in shoulders and back.
These problems can get worse when working with spastic patients. lt may even lead to an early termination of the therapy. Therefore h/p/cosmos has developed a very sophisticated and ergonomic solution, which also cares for the therapist.
We understand !hat only motivated and healthy therapists can optimally serve the patient's needs.
The simple to adjust rotatable therapist seats - with lumbar support - and corresponding foot rests on both sides of the treadmill allow the therapist to sit comfortably and firmly positioning themselves optimally.
For locomotion therapy the specially designed seats are positioned very close to the center of the deck, so the posture of the therapists is optimized. No obstructive bars from frames or other obstacles restric the therapists' access to the patient's legs. To maximise patient safety while avoiding interference with e.g. lateral motion analysis, the h/p/cosmos safety arch and unweighting system airwalk® ap have a "arch" design.
Benefits of locomotio®nand optional controls
Altering the speed, changing the elevation and stopping - the therapist must al ways have access to these functions. Frequently standing up of the therapists during locomotion therapy for re-adjustment of speed and elevation parameters would interrupt the manual motion support to the patient's legs. lt would mean confusion and burden to patient and therapist and would make the therapy much less attrac tive and effective.
To simplify this, the additional keyboard and the additional stop can be placed by the therapist quickly and easily in the desired position. Both controls come with a flexible magnetic attach ment and additional velcro strap for secure mounting and fast changing of positions either on the handrails (facing up or down), on the vertical telescope pillars or even on the nearby tubes of the arch shaped unweighting system frame.

Additional keyboard with magnetic attachment and additional velcro strap for secure mounting and fast change of positions either on the handrails or the vertical pillars.

PERTURBATION - INDIVIDUAL APPLICATIONS

Fast perturbation events

Perturbation profiles - switching between selfmade
Research
Because of the majority of fall causes, research has focused on sudden accelerations, decelerations or stops of the treadmill (Kurz et al., 2016; Liu, Bhatt & Pai, 2016; McCrum et al., 2017; Pigman et al., 2019). While slips and trips are the main cause in real life, interferences in other planes can also happen. Science and industry have created various technical equipment, nevertheless they are cost-intensive and realism and relevance are often questionable.
h/p/cosmos perturbation module
) .
The h/p/cosmos perturbation module can provide extremely sudden changes of the speed. This can be as sudden and unexpected, that it is mandatory to use a fall prevention system, such as the h/p/cosmos safety arch with harness orthe unweighting system h/p/cosmos airwalk® ap. Due to the powerful motor, the acceleration can be as fast as 17.36 m/sec2 (for comparison: the sportscar Bugatti Veyron needs 2.6 sec from 0 ... 100 km/h, !hat equals 15.2 m/sec2 But most of the perturbation events within a training session will be on a lower level and allow a customized training to a wide spectrum of patients. In due course of the training progress, the intensity can be adjusted with a few clicks.

and preset profiles ►

►
Quick Generator for a quick and reliable adjustment of perturbation parameters
Random factor
As in the real world the disturbances happen unexpectedly, the h/p/cosmos perturbation "quick generator" module includes a "random factor". Subjects will not predict the exact time or kind of the next event.
lndividualization and progression matters
Single perturbation events or complex training sessions can be configured individually, within the profile editor. The fastest way to sei up a gait stability training session, is to use the "quick generator". Sliding bars for the total training duration, the frequency and intensity (speed change and length in milliseconds) can be defined easily. lfthe subjects tolerate the training weil, the overall intensity can be increased in a controlled manner.

EVIDENCE DRIVEN DEVELOPMENT

Dual Tasking - name the country flag

Dual Tasking - Stroop Test

Quick Generator for quick and reliable adjustment of perturbation parameters
Focus matters
As long as the subjects focus on their perturbed walking task, they will probably learn to handle it. Like in reality, a rather simple task can get difficult if subjects perform a second task (e.g. typing a message on the mobile phone when walking). To create a more difficult and realistic training, the h/p/cosmos perturbation module allows to add dual tasking exercises, to redirect the focus to another task, away from walking. Cognitive tests, such as the Stroop test, simple - medium - hard mathematics, name the country flag, guess the countries capital, logical number sequences and other brain teasers will distract the subject from walking while stimulating the play instinct.

Perturbation training with h/p/cosmos treadmills
Perturbation is a special software mode for sudden and explosive decelerations and accelerations. The perturbation mode is a special option for treadmills with a Touch or Touch Pro Terminal, available at extra charge. The perturbation mode is designed as a special walking and running profile mode. lt allows sudden and explosive decelerations and accelerations and very short action intervals, typically ranging from 100 ... 1000 milliseconds.
1Action is defined as speed changes, eithera maximal short burstacceleration or deceleration.
1 A sudden acceleration is considered to simulate a slip, e.g. on icy roads
I Asudden deceleration or stop is considered to simulate a trip, e.g. on the edge of the carpet I Also a series of randomized and less sudden intervals can be programmed, in order to
provide frequently altered perturbation moments

Playlist: Example videos of perturbation in gait therapy and webinars on the topic perturbation.
Compatible are all h/p/cosmos treadmills with a Touch (Pro) UserTerminal installed when ordered. Retrofitted Touch (Pro) Terminals are NOT compatible.

CASE STUDIES

Therapy example - ,,return to sport"
After an accident, the way back to the old form can be challenging. lnitially, deficits can be diagnosed and documented by a gait analysis with Microgate optogait® before the therapy takes place with body weight support in the airwalk® ap.
The medical treadmill mercury® med with its cushioned running surface and a maximum speed of 22 km/h as weil as max. 25% incline is also suitable for athletic patients.

The use of h/p/cosmos therapy equipment within a return to spart setting at a therapy center in southern Germany .
YouTube
With its optional emergency stop, the airwalk® ap offers additional safety for the patient and at the same time maximum freedom of movement due to the single-point suspension. Thus, side steps, lunges or rotations are possible.
The optional reverse bell rotation of the treadmill enables eccentric training and provides additional stimuli.

Physiotherapy - rehab and functional training After an injury or a surgery it is very hard to start with a gait training soon, since most patients need a walking aid. These tools may often be physically hindering the patient in developing a proper gait pattern. When the doctor recommends body weight supported training, this early start into rehabilitation can often be done without any further help.
Practising to walk again with body weight support can replace the walking aid and enhance learning to walk again correctly in the very early stages.
lntegrated "air cushion mode" allows rehabilitation to start earlier, using task-specific functional exercise without pain whilst the therapist permanently controls the reduced body weight.
Additional therapeutic advancement with robowalk® expander system
Progresses in earlier therapeutic use back to a normal
sports schedule can be achieved through full body muscular training based on the different adjustments of the expander system and the correspondingly trained muscles. The therapist can decide which part of the body to train and is able to specify the settings of the expander system for support or resistance at the specific muscle or muscle group.

CASE STUDIES
h/p/cosmos visits HSH Lamprecht
The interdisciplinary physiotherapy HSH Lamprecht is one of the leading physiotherapy practices in Germany for neurological and orthopaedical rehabilitation.
In a six-part video series: ,,h/p/cosmos visits HSH Lamprech"t, the HSH Lamprecht team puts the spotlight on their own patients and shows the possibilities of targeted treadmill therapy.

The use of h/p/cosmos therapy equipment at HSH Lamprecht in Kirchheim unter Teck
Playlist on Youtube
The series cover interviews of long-time patients with many different limitations like multiple sclerosis or cerebral haemorrhage. Also other patients who had major accidents are treated at HSH Lamprechts, but one !hing they have all in common. They all are fighting their way back into everyday life.
All patients regained a quality of life and freedom through the personal care and intense training on the treadmill and/or additional training with the unweighting system airwalk® ap.
Patient with Parkinson's disease
For 2 units a week, she actively works against the deterioration of her gait on the treadmill, also relying on the visual stimulation. The virtual reality zebris
„Forest Walk" is not only a great distraction from the physical training, but also offers further advantages for the patient's therapy through dual-tasking. Together with the therapist Simon, the lady was able to curb the symptoms of her progressive Parkinson's disease through intensive treadmill training.
Stroke patient
After a stroke in January 2020, Mr D. feil into a coma. His way out of the wheelchair and back onto his own feet is a very impressive story. The gait therapy takes place under body weight support in the airwalk® ap unweighting system. The single-point suspension and neoprene unweighting shorts allow maximum freedom of movement with simultaneous safety. Additional stability is provided by the height and width adjustable handrail.

MEASURE, ANALYSE, IMPROVE

1 Safe on the treadmill - even when you fall?
1 Motivated to train to the limit - but how?
1 Perfect control and documentation - with just one person?
Without worries and with motivation to the limit
A formula 1 driver can only go to his limits when he knows that his car and the track are as safe as it can be. Without a safety cockpit, a special seat belt and helmet, he would hardly get the same performance or be able to push himself to his limits. lt is similar in performance diagnostics: an athlete who feels insecure and afraid of falling will not find it so easy to go to his limits. To get the complete picture from both the diagnosis and training, the maximum physical exertion is often a prerequisite for an accurate test result, respectively for a predictable increase in performance.

The h/p/cosmos safety arch with ehest belt prevents falling in case of tripping and by loss of coordination in the exhaustion phase. The fall-stop stops the treadmill immediately and automatically by use of a quick-stop system. With this feeling of safety it is possible to train right up to the limit which is important for precise diagnostics.
Because performance counts
Although diagnostic performance of marathon runners or triathletes only place moderate demands on a treadmill system due to the very economical running style the diagnosis of athletes from many other sports requires clearly increased performance. Also when sprint and speed tests are conducted with large and heavy athletes the treadmill system must provide, in these short-termpeak loads, accurate repeatable results. Single phase power supplies with only 230 volts are often overwhelmed.

YOU CAN ONLY IMPROVE WHAT YOU MEASURE

Basic performance diagnostics
The h/p/cosmos quasarID med with a speed of up to 25 km/h (15.53 mph optional 30 km/h), 28 % elevation (15.64° gradient) and a running deck of 170 x 65 cm (66.93 x 25.59") cov ers many requirements of the classical performance diagnostic with step and elevation pro tocols. As an alternative, if purely for fitness or for patient diagnosis, there is the smaller entry-level h/p/cosmos mercury® med with a running deck of 150 x 50 cm (59.05 x 19.68") available. A single phase voltage power supply 230 V/ 16 Ais needed by both models. The natural performance limitations apply for single phase voltage power supply and therefore these models are not recommended for high performance applications.

normal PVC running belt

special studded rubber running belt profile 5 mm
Professional performance diagnostics
The h/p/cosmos pulsarID 3p features above all a 3-phase power connection with 3 x 400 volts AC in addition to the larger running surface of 190 x 65 cm (74.8 x 25.59") and the built-in reverse bell rotation for downhill training. Diagnostics for heavier athletes and many special applications are therefore possible. As part of sprint and speed tests speeds of up to 40 km/h (standard, optional 45 km/h - 28 mph ) are possible. Here it is all about the speed stability and not just the speed of the bell.
Scientific performance diagnostics
The h/p/cosmos venus® 200/75 offers a running surface of 200 x 75 cm (78.80 x 29.53") and elevation angles of -35 ... +35% (-19 ... +19°) and speeds up to 40 km/h as stand ard (optional 60 km/h) even more power, precision and capabilities. The drive mo tor with 11 kW and the heavy rollers provide exceptional dynamics, precision and smoothness. The accuracy of the speed is on average 0.148% (average deviation of 0.0441 km/h, measured both with no load and under load with runners of 78 and 94 kg). lt is especially suitable for scientific studies and applications in athletic training and research. Alternatively there are even bigger treadmills, the h/p/cosmos saturn®, with running surface sizes of 250/75 cm up to 450/300 cm and custom models for specific applications.

SYSTEM SOLUTIONS FOR PERFORMANCE DIAGNOSTICS
Best possible compatibility with up to 4 communication ports
Especially in sports medicine, biomechanics, research and in professional sports there are often many different systems and devices that are con nected to the treadmill: ECG, spirometry, blood pressure monitor, EMG and possibly other software solutions for motion analysis and biofeedback. The h/p/cosmos software solutions can serve the user as important tools to assist controlling, recording and documentation, although they are not medical software products according to EN 62304 and do not provide clinical data or treatment recommendations.
For that reason the h/p/cosmos treadmills of the venus® and saturn® series provide for up to 4 optional PC-interfaces with different transmission speeds (e.g. 9600 or 115,200 bps) for high demands.
We achieve the best possible compatibility with the proven and reliable coscom® interface protocol, which is now supported by almost all major ergometry systems, ECG's, ergospirometry equipment and numerous software solutions. A „science-port" is also optionally available to provide the raw data from the speed sensor as a digital signal without averaging (,.smoothing algorithm"). These signal taps are even possible for other parameters opening the path for other scientific applications both now and in the future.
Standards aren't always applicable - many need more
Soccer, rugby, American football, basketball, handball, tennis, boxing, decathlon, biathlon, marathon, hurdles, sprinting, triathlon, cross country skiing - are sports where specific system solutions are mostly required. Team sports athletes are often large, heavy, and some have very specific requirements. Many train in intervals with high velocities and accelerations - and corresponding step length.
Standard 230 voll power supplies and standard treadmills (smaller 1-phase 230 V h/p/cosmos devices) do not have sufficient power under heavy loads and there may be major speed drops during the athletes landing phase. Often special running belts are required on which the tips from metal poles and running spikes are Jolerated" .
h/p/cosmos running surfaces are available in various lengths, widths and combinations. Both for the acceleration of the treadmill speed and de celeration all h/p/cosmos treadmill ergometers are equipped with several intensity levels. The individually selectable acceleration and deceleration levels range from extremely slow to extremely fast. In 3 ... 131 seconds from O to maximum speed. Depending on the speed and combination, acceleration values from 0.021 to 7.407 m/s2 (as a digital value directly programmable} or custom designs are possible.
This allows the programming of professional true life tests and sport specific training to simulate specific situations. On the other hand a normal fitness treadmill only lets you run fitness applications.

Safety - whilst taking blood samples and measuring blood pressure
In many cases taking a blood sample from the ear or blood pres sure measurement on the upper arm are both part of a performance lest. This requires the treadmill to come to a fast stop so the blood can be sampled quickly, easily and safely.
Also here different acceleration levels and programmable pause times are valuable features allowing optimum concentration to blood sam pling or blood pressure measurement. The h/p/cosmos pulsar® 3p mod el provides acceleration and deceleration from 0.085 m/sec2 (very slow) to

4.167 m/sec2 (very fast; for optional 45 km/h model). For patients and insecure users the speed can be changed very slowly. For professionals and athletes it can be set to 3 sec onds from O to 45 km/h if required. h/p/cosmos systems have both a visual and audible countdown so that both the subject and MTA (medical technical assistant) are warned in time for the next acceleration or change. Additionally there is an optional wide footboard with a non-slip surface for optimum stability and control for both subjects and supervising personnel.
lf no compromise with your running shoe ... why then compromise on the running surface and the machine?

Athletes are very demanding in the selection of their running shoes. You should also be so in the choice of running belt and the running machine. Depending on requirements and the application h/p/cosmos offers not only smooth but grooved or notched profiles. Our running belts are also part of the device's warranty and are often seen running after 8 to 15 years. h/p/cosmos treadmill systems are often in use for very lang periods, for many of our customers that's already 20 years. Requirements, needs and goals may change and expand over time.

The h/p/cosmos system for performance analysis provides a variety of expansion options: for example almost all systems can be extended for motion analysis or functional coor dination and running technique training with unweighting and/or used with the robowalk® expander system.
h/p/cosmos also offers the corresponding solutions for rehabilitation, functional training or speed training and agility / flexibility training. And thanks to the built in PC interface and the open coscom® v4 protocol they can be used with the widest variety of compatible software solutions.

FASTER THROUGH SPECIFIC TRAINING IN A SPEEDLAB®
1 Speed training on a treadmill?
1 lmproved knee litt and better tensile behaviour?
1 Safer sprints and over-speed training on a treadmill - but how?
Performance for more speed
In nearly all performance sports speed, agility and elasticity have become more important in recent years. The faster athletes have a definite advantage. A treadmill system can make a crucial improvement to speed training - subject to certain essential requirements and the application of the latest methodology.
For sports such as American football, rugby, soccer or handball speeds of up to 40 km/h and more are necessary. These speeds need to be reached on a treadmill with athletes who sometimes weigh more than 100 kg (220 lbs). For !hat a treadmill needs power apart from anything eise. Comparable with industrial machinery or electric ovens and many other types of equipment the standard 230 Volt/ 16 Amp power supply doesn't provide enough power and a 3 phase supply with 3 x 400 Volt is necessary. This avoids unwanted speed reduction or even automatic shut downs due to overload.
Speeds of 40 km/h (optionally 45 km/h/ - 28 mph) and programmable acceleration levels together with many other functions and design de tails make the h/p/cosmos pulsar" 3p with its 3 phase power supply unique, particularly for speed training. The drive system allows even heavy subjects to reach speeds of over 40 km/h within a few seconds and thus creates the ideal conditions for effective speed training.
But this has to be approached carefully. Firstly the 100% performance limit needs to be established so !hat the training stimulus can be sei to between 101 and 105%. Additionally unweighting through a body weight support and vest system or holding on to the handrails may be used.
Overloading can cause negative training results or even injury and must be avoided at all costs. Know-how of the correct systematic and meticulous documentation is essential. h/p/cosmos offers various expandable configurations of a SpeedLab®. We support you not just in the selection of the hardware but also in the methodology, analysis and documentation with the support from experts from the fields of speed training, flexibility training and functional training.

FASTER THROUGH SPECIFIC TRAINING IN A SPEEDLAB®
Only safe training can be effective!
A formular 1 driver can only drive on the limit when he knows !hat both his car and the track are as safe as possible. Without the safety cockpit and helmet it is unlikely !hat he would reach the same level of performance. lt's similar for speed training. A subject who feels insecure and is worried !hat he may fall will not train to the limit and certainly won't train over the threshold. lt would also be irresponsible for the trainers and diagnosticians to expose an athlete to the dangers of a fall at high speeds since under maximum demand on the 100% performance limit lack of coordination or even stumbling may occur.
Therefore h/p/cosmos offers a complete package of safety measures for speed training. The safety arch with ehest bell and har ness not only prevents from falling in case of stumbling or fatigue, but at the same also brings the running bell automatically to a complete stop through the quick-stop system. The optional solid steel foot board on the left hand side has been widened for speed training and has both an anti-slip surface and clear hazard markings. This allows the subject to jump on and off from the treadmill safely, if necessary. In addition the left hand handrail has been shortened (option at extra charge) to prevent impact injuries to the hip and a hand grip has been added "just where you need it". Often the treadmill will be jumped on to first when it is running at 36 km/h then accelerated within a few seconds to 40 km/h or more. The right ergonomic design and methodology is necessary to achieve the best results. This way, the athletes can train safely up to their individual limits. The shortened handrail also serves for unrestricted visual access during motion capturing and therefore makes up for a very ergonomic solution in this field of application.
Over-frequency training for more speed
Particularly during the introduction to higher speeds over-frequency training with unweighting is a good, new and high intensity training stimulus.
For effective over-frequency training h/p/cosmos offers a range of possibilities. The special crossbar developed for speed training is the quiekest and easiest form of unweighting and allows full concentration on the footwork for example during knee-lift exercise. In case !hat arms also need tobe used during over-frequency training the h/p/cosmos airwalk® ap offers the ideal solution with its single point dynamic suspension giving total freedom of movement, even for side stepping, 360s and backwards running.

OVERSIZE APPLICATIONS

1 Performance diagnostics of wheelchair athletes on a treadmill? 1 Safety for cyclists on a treadmill • even when falling?
1 Perfect documentation - but how?
The correct choice
The choice of the right treadmill ergometer for bicycles, wheelchairs, hand bikes and ski rollers is a very demanding one. Not only performance diag nostics but also sport-specific training needs to be conducted safely. With a view to the capital costs and the often limited space in a sports laboratory a multifunctional treadmill that can also be used by runners should be selected.
Based on the h/p/cosmos saturn® there are several hundred treadmill solutions worldwide for running, cycling, wheelchair applications, hand-biking and skiing in use. The customers for such systems are many well-known universities, olympic training centres, biomechanics and performance diagnostic institutes, training centres, football clubs, clinics as weil as sports, rehabilitation and research centres. Based on this experience most of these treadmill solutions are medically approved and are tailored to their specific requirements.
Cycling
Whoever has had the privilege to train on a treadmill designed for cycling will know the vast difference to a normal ergometer and will not want to miss the possibility for training and testing.
Cyclists achieve some of the highest speeds of all sports, 80 km/h (~ 50 mph) and more in the top class. A treadmill that is to be used in this environment needs to offer enough space and have extremely fast acceleration - also al lowing quick riding out-of saddle. lt is crucial that the running belt has a very low rolling resistance for the wheels. The h/p/cosmos saturn® 300/100r with a special speed of 80 km/h allows both physiological performance and biome chanical analysis - under optimal and repeatable conditions. The running belt has a very low rolling resistance for the wheels.

Wheelchairs and hand-bikes
There are many different types and widths of wheelchairs: the classic wheel chair, hand-bike and racing wheelchair or specially built chairs for wheelchair rugby or basketball. Top athletes can achieve very high speeds. A treadmill for this application must offer enough width - at least 100 cm, 125 cm is better. In addition it needs to accommodate various different tyre and wheelchair frame designs and must also run fast enough.
The h/p/cosmos saturn® 300/125r with its deck length of 300 cm and 125 cm width fulfills nearly all requirement.sThe safety arch with ehest harness and fall stop together with the wheelchair stabiliser with integrated „rangelimiter" ensure the safety and motivation of the athlete as weil as ensuring correct tracking. The special speed of 60 km/h (37.28 mph) ensures !hat even top athletes can lest themselves to the limit.
Cross country skiing
For classical style cross-country skiing not only the length and width of the running bell but also the use ski poles is important. Therefore the running bell needs both optimum roll characteristics (low rolling resistance) and must be resistant to piercing by the sharp ski pole tips.
The h/p/cosmos saturn® 300/125rs meets these requirements enabling a standardized and repeatable diagnostics and first-class training possibility.
The h/p/cosmos saturn® 450/300rs offers the ideal system solution for in-line skating and cross-country skiing, particularly using the skating technique. With a running surface of 450 cm x 300 cm and a reinforced very thick running bell it provides optimal diagnostics and perfect training opportunities in every season of the year.

OVERSIZE APPLICATIONS

Motivation and safety - for bikes and wheelchairs
A formula 1 driver can only go to his limits when he knows that his car and the track are as safe as can be. Without a safety cockpit, a special seat belt and helmet, he would hardly get the same performance or be able to push himself to his limits. lt is similar for cross country skiers, wheelchair users and cyclists if they feel unsafe and are afraid of falling.
Training or testing at speeds of 40, 60 or even up to 80 km/h (49.71 mph) on a treadmill demand a healthy respect. An increased adrenaline level for the athlete and operating personnel is necessary for testing to the limits but nothing must go wrong.

The h/p/cosmos safety arch prevents a fall in case of loss of coordination or stumbling. The fall stop safety system stops the treadmill immediately and automatically by means of a quick-stop device. The strong safety rope prevents the subject from falling down onto the running bell. The wheelchair stabiliser keeps the wheelchair in the correct position and on track. With this sense of safety it's possible to lest to the important and sometimes decisive level of exertion necessary for a precise diagnostics.
Compatible and future-safe
Particularly in the field of sports medicine, research and professional sports there is often the need to connect a number of systems to the treadmill such as EMG, ECG, spirometer, blood pressure monitor, external printer as weil as various software solutions for motion analysis or bio feedback.
Therefore most h/p/cosmos treadmills offer an option of up to 4 PC interfaces. For the best level of compatibility and safety the coscom® v4 protocol are fully supported.
Linder www.coscom.org you will find an impressive list of manufacturers and coscom® compatible devices, the free of charge coscom.dll v4 program library and the protocol description together with tips for implementation and download. A free treadmill simulator is temporarily provided for partners in order to support programmers during the implementation and testing of the coscom® interface protocol.

RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATIONS FOR THERAPY APPLICATIONS
Experience in therapy solutions
h/p/cosmos is in business since 1988 and therefore built a huge know-how. In cooperation with leading therapists, the development of treadmills, the adjustment of equipment or new inventions were made according to the markets needs.
Why recommendations?
Based on our experience of almost 40 years of manufacturing and promotion of treadmills for therapy, we have developed a sei of recommended configurations. These recommendations can always form the basis for your personal therapeutic device and must be tailored to your specific needs. Some key factors which must be reviewed when deciding for a treadmill system can be:
1 Physiotherapists usually work with various kinds of different patients (height, weight, ...) on the treadmill - a versatile and flexible basic treadmill is needed.
1 Gail therapy and rehabilitation is in demand of analysing tools to document and visualize progress
1 Elderly patients with need for support and/or the possibility for self-support for example via adjustable handrails or arm supports
1 Sports rehabilitation is often paired with return to sports activities or the need for advanced speed for sports training in general
1 Rehabilitation from diverse diseases like stroke, head injury and more require individual approaches and therefore adjustable systems
1 Pediatrics has its own very special needs regarding the height of the small patients
Even though the recommendations fit most needs modern therapy usage - a personal consultation is recommended before acquiring a treadmill. Since every dient is different, so are the needs. Since every therapy itself is different for every patient, the treadmill system has to be adjusted accordingly. The h/p/cosmos sales team and also our distributors in your country are trained specifically to support you in finding the best matching solution.
